On Sunday, twenty members of Junior Choir took part in a family concert at St John Baptist Church, Claines. This was the final concert of a chamber music festival featuring the Astaria String Quartet, a local, professional ensemble. They thoroughly enjoyed hearing the story of ‘Peer Gynt’ and were spellbound by Grieg’s beautiful music for this story. The children performed two songs to an enthusiastic audience, one of which was accompanied by the Astaria Quartet – a treat for all of us! The concert was an interactive and lively affair, with plenty of booing and cheering encouraged to help the story along. The children really did themselves proud and are to be congratulated on a splendid performance, as well as thanked, for giving up their Sunday afternoon!
