Cranham Primary School Win 2019 King’s Primary Schools’ Netball Tournament
Cranham Primary School, one of the schools within the Rivers CofE Multi Academy Trust, battled it out against eight other local primary school netball teams to take the winning title in this year’s annual King’s Primary Schools’ Netball Tournament on May 1st.
The tournament, which is open to city Primary schools, is organised and hosted by the King’s School Worcester on their city centre netball courts.
Nine schools took part in the tournament with plenty of support from teachers and parents, leading to an exciting final between Cranham Primary and The Lyppard Grange Primary Schools. It was a fast-paced game with a strong performance from both teams, but in the end Cranham Primary took the victory.
Each team was assigned a coach from the King’s Senior Netball Squad to provide coaching tips and to choose a Coach’s Player of the Day from each team to win a small prize.
Director of Netball at The King’s School, Emma McKenzie, said: “As netball continues to grow in popularity it’s so exciting to see so much enthusiasm and enjoyment of the sport within our local primary schools.
We enjoyed some exceptional play during the course of the afternoon and all teams displayed a brilliant attitude towards the game. Congratulations to the runners-up The Lyypard Grange Primary School, and of course the winners Cranham Primary. We look forward to welcoming more local schools to King’s for netball events in the future.”
The other participating primary schools were: Cherry Orchard; Nunnery Wood; Oldbury Park; Pitmaston; St Barnabas Primary C.E; St George’s Catholic; and Whittington C.E.
