King’s St Alban’s offers a wide, varied curriculum for our children within which, "Growth Mindset" and learning skills are embedded.
Maths and English are given the most curriculum time and children also study science (in our own laboratory) the humanities, RE and PSHE. Art and design technology, French, music and IT are taught by specialist teachers. Sport plays an important part of life at King’s St Alban’s and all children enjoy swimming, PE and games lessons. Daily homework tasks are set, providing an ideal home-to-school link and giving parents an insight into their children’s work and progress.
The aim is for children to enjoy a wide, varied and interesting curriculum to motivate and inspire a love of learning.
Homework provides an ideal home-to-school link giving parents an insight into their children’s work and progress.
Homework is set every night from Monday to Friday. As a general guide, twenty minutes is considered appropriate in Year Three, rising to thirty minutes in Year Six. In addition to homework, children are expected to read for at least fifteen minutes every day.
In the first term of Year Three, the children will be given multiplication tables or a number-bond learning exercise each Monday, a weekly spelling task each Wednesday, on which they are asked to work for a short time every day, and a Friday homework that will be varied in nature.
