Early Years Music

EARLY YEARS MUSIC

All our children take part in a number of formal and informal musical performances each year. At Christmas all children are involved in either a service or a production, with two nativities for our Early Years and Pre-Prep, a Christingle Service for Years 1 to 3, and our Carol Service in Ombersley church being the highlights of the season.

We have a large group of peripatetic music teachers offering lessons in all orchestral instruments, as well as piano, guitar, drums and voice. Music groups are on offer before school, at lunchtimes and after school including Orchestra, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, String group, Jazz Group, Guitar Group, Electric Band, Ukelele Club, Theory Club and occasional other groups including Young Composers, African Drumming, Production Band, Pre-Prep Glee Club, Recorder Group, Woodwind Trios and Boys' Singing Club. It is important to note that there are music activities open to musicians of all abilities, even beginners, although some require a prerequisite of Grade 1 to enable the group to progress.

Opportunities are given for all children to learn an instrument during their timetabled music lessons or Skills sessions. In Year 2 children receive an introduction the recorder; in Year 3 children receive a term of whole-class Violin Tuition; and in Year 4 the children receive a term of whole-class Trumpet Tuition.
