England and Wales Hockey Selections for King’s Pupils

We are delighted that Lower Sixth student Amy H and Lower Remove pupil Bryony G have both recently been selected into their National Age Groups Squads for England and Wales hockey.

Amy H has been re-selected into the U18 Wales squad for the 2022 season and is now preparing to represent Wales in a number of test series starting from April. Amy is spending the next few weeks preparing as a squad and getting to know each other with some camps and training days over the next two months. Amy is hoping to represent Wales in the Five Nations this summer and is pushing to be selected for the U21 team and U23 squad for next season.

Amy was recently featured in our new Foundation publication, floreat magazine,  as one of our rising stars. You can read more about her hockey successes in this terms magazine.

Bryony G has been selected into the U16 England squad and has a training camp coming up on the 29-30th January, and a training camp with 3 matches against Ulster on the 15-17th February. Bryony adds “I am delighted to have been selected into the squad and to have the opportunity to play against top opposition. Being one of the youngest in the squad gives me a great chance to develop and improve my game, learning from the players and coaches around me. I am looking forward to seeing how far I can progress during my time in England U16’s.”

Director of Sport, Mrs Miller-Symonds says of their achievements “It is fantastic to see that Amy and Bryony have been selected for NAGS and both have proved the value of being multi-sport athletes; Amy represents Wales in Athletics and Bryony is in the County Cricket programme. They are both exceptional role models, with their attitude and commitment and this achievement is thoroughly deserved.”

Congratulations to both Amy and Bryony on their fantastic achievements!
