Entrance Testing

Before being offered a place at The King’s School, Worcester, all candidates are required to undertake entrance tests. If you would like to book your son or daughter in for entrance testing, please email our Registrar, Vickie Peckston or alternatively you can call on 01905 721742. Our entrance testing for each age group is detailed below.

Entrance testing dates for 2020 entry

Ages 11, 12 and 13 | 25th January 2020

Age 16 + | 30th / 31st  January 2020

Please note that for ages 11,12 and 13 (years 7-9)  it may be possible to consider an ‘in year’ application and in addition depending on the size of our Year 9 group, we may be able to consider September entry into Year 10.

The usual entrance testing would apply in all these cases.

Entrance Testing at 11+

There are up to fifty places for external candidates at 11+. All candidates take papers in English, Mathematics and verbal reasoning and have a short interview.

Entrance testing at 13+

Places available at 13+ vary from year to year depending on the size of our Year Eight group. We would advise parents to check on the position in any one year. All candidates take papers in English, Mathematics and verbal reasoning and have an interview.

Please contact our Registrar Mrs Vickie Peckston on 01905 721742 for more information.

Entrance testing at Sixth Form

There is a specially designed test geared to the age group, which contains elements of English, Mathematics and spatial relationships. On the basis of this test, interviews, predicted GCSE grades and reports from the candidates' current schools, offers are made which are conditional on a satisfactory performance at GCSE. To qualify for entry to the Sixth Form the minimum requirement for external candidates is six passes at least at B grade (or equivalent) and a further two passes at C grade (or equivalent) at GCSE. However, we would expect most of our Sixth Form applicants to comfortably exceed this. English language and mathematics must be passed at C grade or higher. Ideally, candidates should expect to achieve a Grade A or higher in any subject that is to be taken at A Level if these subjects have been taken at GCSE, but a B is accepted as a minimum.

Information for current King's pupils continuing on to the Sixth Form can be found by signing into Firefly.
