ESAA Regional Cross Country Cup

Last weekend, our U13 girls Cross Country team competed in the ESAA Regional Cross Country Cup, having qualified in October.

All the girls put in a superb performance on a hilly course at Bromsgrove School. A tight first bend made for a difficult start and the girls had to work their way back through the field steadily. The individual positions were: Phoebe W 8th, Lucy T 16th, Ella P 22nd, Sophie P 26th, Anna S 31st and Daisy F 42nd. This gave them a team score of 72 points, which put them in fourth place, missing out on qualification to the National Finals by just three points. This is the closest we have ever come to qualifying and all the girls should be very proud of their performance.

Director of Sport, Mrs Miller-Symonds, comments, ‘All the girls raced very well on a tough course at the ESAA Regional Cross Country Cup, with numerous hills and tight corners to negotiate. The race went off at a frantic pace, but the girls settled into their own running and went past numerous other athletes through the race. It is always hard to be so close to qualification for nationals and just miss out, but the girls can be very proud of their performances and three members of the team can compete in the same age group next year.’
