A Celebration of Alan Stacey's life- Saturday 23rd February

3pm: Service in College Hall

Alan Stacey (Hon OV), History teacher & School House Housemaster (1958-1991), sadly died in November 2018. Alan will be a fondly remembered member of the King's family and he will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, whether as a colleague, subject teacher, Head of House, or as Contingent Commander of the CCF.

A Celebration of Alan Stacey's life will take place at 3pm on Saturday 23rd February and this will offer a fitting tribute and an occasion where OVs and members of the King's family can say farewell to a well-remembered man; someone who lent support, inspiration, fun, and encouragement to all those who came across him here at King's.

Jane Stacey has asked us to communicate that this is to be a celebration of Alan's happy life, and as such dress code is relaxed and not limited to black or dark clothing. The service in College Hall on College Green consisting of music, readings and tributes will start promptly at 3pm. You will be able to take your seats from 2.30pm. This will be followed by tea, coffee and cake served in the school Dining Hall at approximately 4.15pm. For catering purposes, Jane has said it would be very useful to know rough numbers expected in advance and it therefore be wonderful if you could RSVP to alumni@ksw.org.uk if you intend to come. It will be an absolute pleasure to see OVs there, and Jane and all the Stacey family will be touched to be able to share this very special occasion with you all.

Jane and the family have requested that any donations are made to The King's School Worcester Development Trust. All donations will support bursary places at King's and we are immensely thankful to the Stacey family for choosing this as the charity they wish to support in memory of Alan. Alan saw the life-changing effect that the splendid education and opportunities here at King's afforded the many boys and girls who passed through his care. We are therefore so very appreciative that Alan's legacy will continue to support bursary provision here at King's, ensuring more young people from all backgrounds can have the opportunity of a King's education. There will be a retiring collection after the celebration, however if you are unable to join us on the day and would still like to make a donation in Alan's memory, details can be found here .

The 23rd is quite a busy day in Worcester and as such we would recommend leaving plenty of time for parking. The closest pay car park is King's Street car park - WR1 2NX.
