Final Assembly Full of Good Cheer

As the Autumn Term draws to a close it was wonderful to gather the whole school together on the hard surface this morning for a final assembly. During the assembly we reflected on the term in sport, gave out sports awards and bid a very fond farewell to three members of staff who are leaving us today.

Mr Hodgkins kicked things off, summarising the term’s sporting achievements for the whole school community. Then came the serious business of awarding the prizes. The sports staff had tough decisions to make across the year groups as so many children have come on leaps and bounds this term. Congratulations to the following children who were the proud recipients of the Most Improved Players of the term:

Arthur, Thea, Oscar, Annabel, Max, Georgia, Henry, Henry, Bella and Emily.

In addition to the prizes for the most improved players the staff had also selected ‘Players of the Term’ from each year group. These were players who not only impressed with their performance on the pitch but also their can-do attitudes and behaviour off the pitch. Well done to the following pupils:

Shaan, Pippa , Oliver, Jetta, Hudson, Erin, Fletcher, Will, and Charlotte.

With all of the individual prizes awarded it was time to present the House Sports Trophy – this term it was won by Bredon. An excellent achievement although it should be noted that only 1 point stood between first and second place.

Whilst we had the whole school community gathered together Mrs Phillips took the opportunity to bid farewell to three longstanding King’s Hawford teachers. Mrs Doorbar, Mrs Chapman and Miss Willis have been integral parts of King’s Hawford having clocked up a rather large number of years service between them. It was a rather emotional send off with plenty of tears!

Whilst staff members regained composure Mrs Phillips wished everyone a restful break and a magical Christmas. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the school in 2022!
