Foundation rugby stars shine at Rosslyn National 7s

Last Friday, boys from King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford joined forces to compete at the U11 Rosslyn Park Rugby 7s National Tournament.

Over the course of the day, the team competed against some of the best schools in the country. They finished second in their group, which was a phenomenal achievement. The standard of rugby was incredibly high and the school coaches were very proud of every boy in the squad. Mr Hooman, Head of Boys’ Games at King’s St Alban’s explained: “It really was a fantastic opportunity for these boys and they did the School, their teachers and themselves proud. They showcased the exceptional talent of this group of boys, playing against some of the toughest opposition in the country. Their brilliant performance reflects the hard work they’ve put in throughout the year, demonstrating not only their impressive skill sets, but also their willingness to listen, their eagerness to learn, and their determination to keep improving.”

Alongside the success on the field, it was brilliant to see friendships building between the two Foundation Prep Schools. With just one term to go now before the boys join up in the Lower Fourth (Year Seven) at “Big King’s”, it is reassuring to see that events such as these are nurturing friendships. It is safe to say that the future of Foundation rugby is looking very bright!

"It was great to see King's Hawford and King's St Alban's coming together to represent the Foundation at the National Schools 7s in London last week. I was hugely impressed with the attitude and teamwork they displayed throughout which resulted in some fantastic rugby. They will definitely be an age group to watch over the coming years and I am looking forward to working with them".
