Funky Fingers Fun in Nursery Pre-School
This week, our Swans group in Nursery Pre-School have been busy engaging in a range of exciting activities designed to strengthen their fine motor skills through our much-loved “Funky Fingers” sessions.
The children thoroughly enjoyed wrapping colourful string around sticks, a task that encouraged focus and dexterity while strengthening the small muscles in their hands and fingers. They also practised their scissor skills, carefully cutting through a variety of materials including paper, card, and fabric. This offered both a fun challenge and an important opportunity to build control and coordination.
Another highlight of the week was mark-making on the whiteboards, where the children explored early writing through drawing shapes, patterns, and even beginning letter formations. These kinds of playful, hands-on experiences are essential for developing fine motor strength, hand-eye coordination, and the confidence needed for more formal writing tasks as the children progress through school.
We are incredibly proud of how focused and enthusiastic the Swans have been during their Funky Fingers time, well done, everyone!
