Over the past two weeks, both of our U13 and U15 girls’ cricket teams have enjoyed great success at the Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket competitions. Both teams have made it through to the regional finals stage of the competition after being crowned County Champions.
Due to other school commitments, our U13 girls’ cricket side was made up solely of U12s pupils, but at no stage did they look out of place playing against girls a year older them. After losing a close first game to Abberley Hall, the team went from strength to strength and achieved victories over Haybridge High School, Christopher Whitehead and Aston Fields in the semi-final. The girls then met Abberley Hall in the Final and managed to produce their best performance to turn around the earlier defeat.
A week later the U15 side (also involving five girls from the U13s and U14s) managed to follow the U13s success and booked their place in the final with victories over Prince Henry’s and King Charles, Kidderminster in the group stage after two excellent run chases. Another confident performance, this time against RGS, saw us chase down their total with three overs to spare, thanks to another superb bowling and fielding performance.
Both sides will now face the winners of the North Midlands competition at regional finals day, towards the end of March. We wish both sides the best of luck.
