Hawford pastoral care

In the Reception, Year 1 and 2 classes, our teachers provide a caring and supportive environment where pupils feel valued, happy and optimistic.

Parents are kept closely informed about their children's happiness and are able to make daily contact with the class teacher. We see education as a partnership between parents and the school.

Our children are encouraged to show respect and tolerance at all times and this is central to our ethos, being reinforced by our system of rewards. The Form Tutor is at the heart of our pastoral care system and is always available to pupils and parents alike. Senior pupils help younger pupils in the playground and also undertake additional responsibilities around the school. In this way we introduce pupils to the idea of serving a community. All classes send representatives to our School Council. It was this body that drew up our 'School Rules':

We aim to:

  • Always be kind, considerate and well-mannered
  • Encourage others through words and deeds
  • Be a good sport, not a bad loser
  • Be truthful and honest
  • Share and be fair
  • Look after our school

At King’s Hawford we encourage our children to interact with everything around them.

HMS Hawford is a varied play area surrounded in wood chip with the backdrop of the river and the rolling Worcestershire countryside.

An aviary full of brightly coloured birds, lively and full of character. The children love to help take care of them.

Our large bronze chickens that roam free in the grounds, provide our children with plenty of hands-on experience.
