Sport plays a huge part in the life of all children at King's Hawford. All children from years 3 to 6 benefit from 2 hours and 20 minutes of timetabled sport per week.
In addition to this, there are a number of extra-curricular sports clubs to further enhance the sporting provision at the school.
Physical Education Lessons
Physical Education lessons take advantage of our excellent new sports building as well as our indoor swimming pool to enable our children to experience a full range of activities including basketball, handball, trampolining, gymnastics, dance, problem-solving, fitness, swimming, and athletics. Children are assessed through their physical skills and abilities as well as their understanding of health and fitness, analysis of performance, tactical awareness and social skills in sport.
Within games, all children from years 3 to 6 participate in competitive fixtures against other schools locally, regionally and nationally. We have a full department of dedicated games staff enabling fixtures to be offered at A, B, C and even D team level so that all children have the opportunity to play.
The boys compete in rugby, football and cricket and the girls compete in hockey, netball and rounders. In addition, children at King's Hawford have the opportunity to compete in a number of swimming galas, cross-country events and athletics meets across the school year.
