We are very excited to announce that a novel written by Stephan Le Marchand (Hon OV) is being published on June 28th this year.
Many OVs will have fond and varied memories of Stephan. A dedicated and passionate teacher of English, House Tutor (and House Song enthusiast!), Theatre Director and Careers programme leader are some of the many hats Stephan wore during his incredible 35 years at King’s. This is an exciting chance for OVs to see what Stephan has been getting up to during his retirement. Stephan will have commented on the school work of hundreds of OVs and he says this is a chance to reverse the roles, giving OVs the opportunity to enjoy and critique the work of their former teacher!
So Much More the Man:
Philip Robinson, an English teacher in Worcester nearing retirement, reflects on a life that hasn’t been as remarkable as the lives of so many characters in the texts he has taught. In this mood of thoughtful sadness, he has a chance encounter with a woman he had loved and lost 40 years earlier when they had played opposite each other in a production of ‘Macbeth’. Powerful memories and strong temptation threaten to turn this ordinary man into the tragic hero he thinks he wants to be.
Thank you Stephan for sharing this exciting news. We are very much looking forward to the release of your first book, and are sure the OV community are too! ‘So Much More the Man’ is available to pre-order from Waterstones here.
