On Thursday we were treated to our first informal music concert of the year. Parents of some of our budding musicians met in the Barn to enjoy a wide range of performances.
For some, it was their first opportunity to perform in front of an audience, and our novices impressed with their confident and well-rehearsed pieces. Our youngest performer was a newcomer to Year 1, who set the scene with her rendition of ‘Open String Notes’ on the violin; we then enjoyed listening to trumpeters, pianists, flautists and voice solos.
A special mention must go to our spirited Year 5 saxophonist, who had the audience tapping their feet to ‘Tickertape’ by Jonathan Rutland.
The concert drew to a close with a dramatic interpretation by a talented Year 5 ’celloist of the ‘Allegro’ by Mihaly Hajdy.
Congratulations to all of the performers, from the novices to the more experienced musicians, and well done, Mrs Hughes, for orchestrating the concert so beautifully.
