Kindness is King during Random Acts of Kindness Week

Last week was our Random Acts of Kindness Week (RAK) at King’s Hawford. We are extremely proud of our warm and inclusive school community and Random Acts of Kindness Week allows us to celebrate and champion the kindness that exists at King’s Hawford.

On Monday, Mrs Knight kick started RAK Week with a kindness themed assembly. Joined by members of the Well-being Group from School Parliament. Mrs Knight launched several initiatives including Kindness Bingo, Caught You Being Kind Cards and a Kindness Poster competition.

Across the week, pupils were encouraged to go above and beyond to spread kindness throughout the School. Year One children made and delivered baskets of chocolates to members of staff, pupils from Year Three displayed random acts of kindness by clearing up cloakrooms and bag racks around school, Year Four created some beautiful kindness quotation frames, which they gave out to teachers and support staff, Year Five pupils crafted some lovely bookmarks for staff and Year Six painted some stunning kindness stones.

On Thursday, the School celebrated World Book Day which focused on the RAK theme of kindness and diversity. It was a wonderful day, which was fully embraced by all members of the school community. A full report of the day can be found here.

Random Acts of Kindness Week concluded with Duvet Day, which encouraged pupils to be kind to themselves. Whilst the week had focused on being kind to each other, Friday was more focused on looking at ways of filling their own kindness cups. Pupils and staff arrived at school wearing a mix of pyjamas and leisure wear. The day started with a Celebration Assembly, celebrating pupils’ achievements from the past week. After assembly, pupils took part in a fun Wake and Shake session led by Mrs Beech and a relaxing Yoga session led by Mrs Knight.

Reception pupils also held a wonderful Afternoon Tea party for their mums ahead of Mothering Sunday. Pupils worked hard to create brilliant portraits of their mums, which were displayed on the wall of The Cob. There were lots of wonderful pamper activities available and the children really enjoyed spoiling their mums with the help of the Reception staff.

Thank you to everyone who donated random amounts to support our charities on Friday. It is always greatly appreciated.
