King’s Musicians Sing at St Mark's Basilica on the Venice Music Tour
The biennial King’s Music Tour this year involved a five day visit to Venice during the February half term. The School Choir and Chamber Orchestra performed two concerts, one in a large eleventh century church with a wonderful acoustic in Padua, the other in a small but beautifully ornate church in Venice. The School Choir also sang Mass at St Mark's Basilica, one of the most well-known churches in the world. In addition to the excellent music-making, these tours also provide an opportunity to explore the city and surrounding area. There was plenty of time to explore the streets and culture of Venice which included approximately half of the pupils watching a performance of 'The Barber of Seville' at the impressive opera house. We visited the Doge's Palace and spent a morning in the nearby town of Verona. The next Music Tour is likely to be to Seville in February 2020.
