King’s Fencers Gain Valuable Experience
Three teams of King’s fencers took on teams from RGS Worcester on Monday 14th May. Brave performances were not enough to secure victory but with discrepancies in age (Year 4 George Gamble taking on Years 7, 8 and 9 opponents with notable success) and given the King’s fencers’ inexperience with the épée or against the British Junior champion, we can certainly claim to have learned a lot. Experience both in years and weapons showed but our young team is developing well – attitude, technique, precision and poise are impressive. The tightest contest saw the lead flit eight times between the sides with a nail-biting if ultimately disappointing conclusion.
