The Admissions Process

Our Registrar, Mrs Melanie Adams, will be your single point of contact throughout the admissions process and will look forward to showing you all the existing opportunities available for pupils at King’s Hawford.

We look forward to welcoming you to King’s Hawford.

Getting to know King’s Hawford

Following your initial enquiry, our Registrar will send a prospectus pack out to you in the post. This will include detailed information on fees, allowances, and other relevant topics.

Visit King’s Hawford

We look forward to welcoming prospective parents and their families to the school for a tour and an opportunity to meet our Head, Mr Jim Turner. We run a series of Open Events throughout the year and offer private tours during the school day at a time to suit you. Please contact our Registrar, Mrs Melanie Adams, on 01905 451292 or via email madams@ksw.org.uk

After a visit to the school, if you would like to continue with the admission process, you will be asked to complete a Registration Form. This is an ‘Expression of Interest’ and does not guarantee reservation of a place. At this point we ask for a non-refundable £40 registration fee, which covers the cost of assessing each child and associated administration costs.

Taster Day

Once registered, we look forward to welcoming children (age five and upwards) into school for a Taster Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to spend a day in school with their current year group, participating in a whole range of activities. We will complete our assessments during this time. We may also request a report from your child’s previous school.

Offer of a place

If all goes well, and subject to space within the relevant year group, we will make a formal offer of a place, which will be held for two weeks. Acceptance of entry to King’s Hawford, by payment of a £200 deposit, will be requested at this point. This is refunded when children leave the King’s Foundation.

Keeping you informed

Once your child is registered with us we will keep you informed of all school events prior to your child joining the school and warmly invite you to join us. You can also book places for your child for the many holiday activities and sports camps that take place at King’s Hawford during the holiday periods.

In the event of over-subscription, places will be allocated on the following basis, provided that the academic criteria for the award of a place have been met:

  • Siblings of children already at King’s Hawford
  • Siblings of children who have been at the school
  • Children whose parents attended a school within the King’s Foundation, or Hawford Lodge, prior to it becoming part of the Foundation
  • The date on which a place, having been offered, is formally accepted.

Scholarships are available for candidates of exceptional academic or musical ability. These awards are of up to one third tuition fees in value and are tenable only in the Junior School. Further awards are available at the Senior School at 11+ and 13+ entry. Find out more on our Scholarship pages.
