Registration
After a visit to the school, if you would like to continue with the admission process, the first step in the admissions process is to complete a registration form via our online application portal. A registration fee of £50 is required to secure your child’s place (details of how to pay this will be available via our online application portal).
Taster Day
Once registered, we look forward to welcoming children (age five and upwards) into school for a Taster Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to spend a day in school with their current year group, participating in a whole range of activities. We will complete our assessments during this time. We may also request a report from your child’s previous school.
Testing
Entry for girls and boys into Years 1 to 6 is by means of an informal assessment, which takes place after the child is registered.
Prospective pupils will be invited to the school to spend a day with their current year group, participating in a whole range of activities. During this time they will also complete their assessments. There is no need for special preparation and the atmosphere is informal.
The age-standardised assessments include papers in English and Maths, and they will be familiar to the children. We will use the results to assess their suitability for King’s Hawford and, if necessary, to discuss any support they may need with their academic studies.
There is time for a break with a drink and a snack in the morning and a cooked meal at lunchtime. The experience is organised so that the children have a wonderful day experiencing much that King’s Hawford has to offer.
Offer of a place
If all goes well, and subject to space within the relevant year group, we will make a formal offer of a place, which will be held for two weeks. Acceptance of entry to King’s Hawford, by payment of a £200 deposit, will be requested at this point. This is refunded when children leave the King’s Foundation.
Keeping you informed
Once your child is registered with us we will keep you informed of all school events prior to your child joining the school and warmly invite you to join us. You can also book places for your child for the many holiday activities and sports camps that take place at King’s Hawford during the holiday periods.
In the event of over-subscription, places will be allocated on the following basis, provided that the academic criteria for the award of a place have been met:
- Siblings of children already at King’s Hawford
- Siblings of children who have been at the school
- Children whose parents attended a school within the King’s Foundation, or Hawford Lodge, prior to it becoming part of the Foundation
- The date on which a place, having been offered, is formally accepted.
