King’s Hawford Nursery, known as Kindergarten, is located in the middle of the Prep School site and as such benefits from all of the wonderful facilities that the Prep School has to offer. Our Kindergarten building is self-contained and comprises of several bright and airy rooms and it’s own Early Years Learning Garden. During their time at Kindergarten, children regularly explore the main Prep School site whether that’s bug hunting in one of two Forest School areas, enjoying a story onboard our double-decker Library Bus, jumping in puddles in the garden, bouncing on a trampoline during a PE lesson in The Barn, or having a splash in the onsite indoor pool.
King's Hawford Nursery Facilities
Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten building can be found at the heart of King’s Hawford Prep School, nestled between colourful aviaries and the school double-decker Library Bus.
Kindergarten is made up of two large colourful rooms; Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2. The Kindergarten building is self-contained and has it’s own kitchen and toilet facilities. Children also enjoy a recently refurbished outdoor Learning Garden.
Library Bus
Our Library Bus is extremely popular with our Nursery children. It contains over 450 books and Kindergarten pupils enjoy regular trips to the library. Mystery Reader sessions are extremely popular events and we love welcoming parents, grandparents and other guests to read their favourite stories to our children.
The Barn
The Barn is a multi-purpose facility, designed to provide ultimate flexibility. It is used for whole-school assemblies, indoor sports shows, concerts, PE lessons and whole-school productions.
Kindergarten pupils use The Barn for their weekly PE sessions which include gymnastics and trampolining. The Barn is also the setting for the Kindergarten 2 and Reception Nativity Play which takes place every December.
Indoor Swimming Pool
Our indoor swimming pool is heated throughout the year and our Kindergarten children get to enjoy the pool on a weekly basis all year round. With the help of experienced swimming coaches all of our children are introduced to the pool at a young age and take part in the Swim England Ducking award scheme.
Worcester Forest Schools
There are two established Forest School areas on the Prep School site meaning we are able to offer sessions all year round. We have a specialised Forest School area for our Early Years children and a main Forest School area for older children.
Nursery children visit Forest School weekly all year round and it is a highlight of the week for many!
The Bark
Our Nursery children have access to the school adventure playground affectionately referred to as ‘The Bark’. Here they can climb, whizz down the slide, tackle the monkey bars and burn off some energy!
The Fields
At King’s Hawford Prep School we are surrounded by playing green fields. Our Nursery pupils regularly enjoy these areas whether it’s on a walk around site, a lap of the fields for House Cross Country or the popular Early Years Sports Day.
Tipi
Nursery children love visiting our onsite Tipi! It provides perfect shelter from the rain to enjoy a quick snack and hot chocolate or acts as the perfect venue when you need to host a tea party for a Tiger Comes For Tea.
Early Years Garden
Our beautiful Early Years Garden offers a tranquil space for our Nursery children to play. Children take great pride in helping maintain the garden by planting new plants and keeping the plants watered.
