King’s Rowers Raise Over £4000 for Charity

On the last Friday of the Winter Term, the Boat Club started off its annual million meter ergo challenge in aid of charities Cardiac Risk in the Young, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Kaleidoscope. The Lower Remove (Year 9) and Upper Remove (Year 10) rowers powered the ergs through the afternoon (with the help of Mario Kart and pizza), until the senior rowers took over for the evening. Taking turns doing hour-long shifts we worked through the night, crossing the five hundred thousand metre mark at around 2.00 am with the help of the coaches. The junior rowers took over again in the morning, giving the seniors a much-needed rest, with OVs and parents joining in for the final stint. Overall the event raised in excess of £4000 for the charities and with the support of staff and parents was great fun for everyone involved!
