King’s St Alban’s pupils take on computational challenge!

Challenged to solve computational thinking related puzzles and questions, pupils tried their best to answer as many questions as possible. The challenge, taking place between Monday 7th November and Thursday 23rd November, is organised in over 30 countries around the world and is designed to get pupils across the globe to explore their talents and passion for informatics and computational thinking. The challenge is aimed at children from the age of six through to 18 years of age, who are grouped into six age-specific categories. Each participant answers questions that focus on computational and logical thinking. With just 45 minutes on the clock, the pupils demonstrated all their focus and concentration skills. Mrs Beauchamp, Assistant Head Co-Curricular, commented, “The pupils taking part were superb; you could hear a pin drop in the IT room as pupils worked through a range of problems, starting with some easier ones and heading into the final section of really challenging problems.”

Each group will get three sets of five tasks (except the youngest two groups; they will get three sets of three tasks and three sets of four tasks respectively). The three sets each have a level of difficulty: easy, medium or hard.

It is clear that the King’s St Alban’s pupils, for some of whom this was their third year of taking part, rose to the task really well and enjoyed the experience. All of our pupils hope to gain the top 10% certification, which takes them through to a higher-level competition. Watch this space!
Well done to all of those pupils who took part in the challenge.
