Admissions are open to join King’s Worcester Sixth Form for two very important years of your life.

With some of the highest A-level results in Worcester, top university places awarded to over 80% of our pupils, an outstanding Careers department and our extensive co-curricular programme, admission to King’s Worcester Sixth Form will give you the opportunity to grow, mature, achieve and be prepared for the next steps you chose to take in higher education, training or work.

In addition to pupils moving into Sixth Form from King’s Year 11, over 30 others join our King’s Family each year from both maintained and independent schools. Induction activities and social events ensure that everyone who joins us settles in quickly, and your dedicated house and form tutor will be on hand to help and advise every step of the way.

As our Sixth Form applicants all have different skills, interests and ambitions, our Sixth Form entrance is more individual than at other entry points to the school.

Process:

We look forward to welcoming you on a Private Tour or on one of our Open Mornings.

After your visit, if you would like to apply, you would firstly formally register with us.  All applicants complete a personal statement so that we can find out more about you and a reference is requested from your current school.   If applicable, you may wish to apply for one of our scholarships.

Offers conditional on GCSE results will be made on receipt of your application and a satisfactory reference from a current school.

If an Academic Scholarship has been applied for, we would invite you in to undertake a cognitive abilities test (CAT test).  This test is taken on a digital platform and will take just over an hour to complete.

For Sports Scholarship consideration, an application would be completed, sporting references collected, and you would be invited in by the Foundation Director of Sport to train with your peers at the school in your main sport.

Those interested in Art and Performing Art awards would be asked to show a portfolio of their work and be invited in by our drama or art departments to discuss their work.  References would be taken.

Potential music scholars will be invited in for audition by the Director of Music. we can find out more

GCSE admission requirements

To qualify for entry to the Sixth Form, the minimum requirement for external candidates is usually six passes at least at grade 6 and a further two passes at grade 4 at GCSE. We would expect most of our Sixth Form applicants to comfortably exceed this. Ideally, candidates should expect to achieve a grade 7 or higher in any subject that is to be taken at A-level if these subjects have been taken at GCSE, but a 6 will usually be accepted.

Opportunities to spend time at the School

We host a range of  Sixth Form Events during the school year so that prospective sixth form students can spend some time in the school.  Depending on the time of the academic year you apply, you will be invited in to an event to see the sixth form in action.  We welcome our prospective students to join us for additional sessions or workshops, depending on interests.

Key Dates for September 2024 Admission

  • 16+ Offer Holders Day:  Friday 2nd February 2024
  • Offers: We ask that conditional offers are accepted by the date on the offer letter.

I believe the Sixth Form at King’s Worcester to be one of opportunities: academically, socially, and with a broad co-curriculum. We want students to make the most of these opportunities.
