Admissions are open to join King’s Worcester Sixth Form for two very important years of your life.

With the highest A-Level results in Worcester, top university places awarded to over 80% of our pupils, an outstanding Careers department and our extensive co-curricular programme admission to King’s Worcester Sixth Form will give you the opportunity to grow, mature, achieve and be prepared for the next steps you chose to take in higher education, training or work.

In addition to pupils moving into Sixth Form from King’s Year 11, about 30 others join our King’s Family each year from both maintained and independent schools.

To join the Sixth Form, you will need to attend an Open Morning, register your application and pay a £40 registration fee, and participate in the Assessment Day. Successful candidates receive a conditional offer of a place in the Sixth Form soon after the Assessment Day.

GCSE admission requirements

To qualify for entry to the Sixth Form, the minimum requirement for external candidates is usually six passes at least at grade 6 and a further two passes at grade 4 at GCSE. We would expect most of our Sixth Form applicants to comfortably exceed this. Ideally, candidates should expect to achieve a grade 7 or higher in any subject that is to be taken at A-level if these subjects have been taken at GCSE, but a 6 will usually be accepted.

A-Level Assessment Day

Each year we hold an A-Level Assessment Day which includes a multiple-choice cognitive abilities test and an interview. There will also be a range of team-building exercises, and an opportunity to observe A-level lessons in subjects that are of particular interest. Following the Assessment Day, offers are made, which are conditional on GCSE results.

Taster Event

We host a Sixth Form Taster Event each year so that prospective pupils can spend some time in the school and participate in a range of activities with pupils and staff. This is a fantastic way for prospective pupils to learn more about the school and decide if they would like to progress to the testing phase.
