Leadership Training Day for Sixth Form Leaders

On Monday, June 17th, our senior student leaders, including Monitors and Heads of House, participated in an enriching leadership training session alongside the team from WiseUp, the Headmaster, Senior Deputy, and the Head and Assistant Head of Sixth Form. This annual event is a vital part of our vision to cultivate leadership skills and personal growth among our pupils, and it turned out to be a memorable afternoon!

Millie D, one of our Monitors, shared her feelings about the experience:

“At the leadership training day yesterday, there was a lively atmosphere that led to every Monitor actively participating in the challenges their groups faced, from stepping stones to blindfolded mazes. There was a buzz of excitement on the fields and lively discussions as teams worked together to figure out creative solutions, often attempting them multiple times! This determination and effective communication helped us understand each other’s strengths better. We also had some laughs, especially during tasks like the caterpillar walk, which had some interesting outcomes. By the end of the afternoon, we felt more comfortable working together and confident in our ability to solve problems logically as a team.”

Tilly C, a Head of House, also reflected on the day’s activities:

“On Monday afternoon, the Heads of House took part in a leadership training event. The variety of activities allowed us to use some key skills needed in our roles, particularly collaboration, resilience, and creativity in response to problems. While the activities were challenging, they also provided an opportunity to bond and share light-hearted moments. We finished the afternoon with a deeper understanding of the key aspects of leadership and a sense of excitement for the challenges ahead.”

Throughout the session, our student leaders made significant progress in communication and took the time to reflect on what strategies led to success. We are incredibly proud of their journey and look forward to seeing them thrive as they progress in the Upper Sixth!
