Legacy Appeal

Remembering The King’s School Worcester Development Trust in your Will

Legacies play a vital role in providing for the long-term security of pupil bursaries at The King’s School.  We understand that decisions concerning your Will are very personal and your family will be your first priority.  We hope that you might consider supporting future generations of pupils by remembering King’s in your Will.

The King’s School Worcester Development Trust is a charity and a legacy left to the Trust would be exempt from inheritance tax. If you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, the inheritance tax on the remainder of your estate is reduced from 40% to 36%.

If you have already made a Will and would like to add a bequest to King’s, you can do this through a Codicil Form, which should be kept along with the original version of your Will.

When making a bequest in your Will, please note that the beneficiary should be The King’s School Worcester Development Trust, registered charity number 527530.

You may wish to support a specific area of King’s and we will always honour your wishes. If you do not specify anything, bequests will be used by the Trust to meet the school’s top priorities which, for the foreseeable future, will be life-changing bursaries.

Making a Will is an important step and it is recommended that you seek the advice of a solicitor. If you would like to discuss any particular Legacy requests to King’s in confidence, please contact Liz Elliott, the Development Director, at King’s on eelliott@ksw.org.uk or 01905 721719. Alternatively, should you wish to talk to us in person, we would be delighted to meet you.

The 1541 Society

To thank those who have let us know that they are leaving a gift to King’s in their Will, we have created The 1541 Society. Members are invited to special school events throughout the year, including a dinner in the Spring where the Headmaster talks about current activities and future plans for the school.

So that we can invite you to join The 1541 Society, you can download a pledge form here, letting us know, in complete confidence, about your legacy and your wishes.  Indicating your support on this form is encouraging to the school but it has no legal consequences. It does not limit your freedom to alter your Will in the future and is simply a statement of your present intentions.
