Lower Years Girls Sporting Successes

The past week has seen great success for our Lower Years, with two of our girls’ teams being named Champions in their respective sports.

On Monday the U13B’s played fantastically during their County Tournament. This was a great opportunity for the team to put into practice their training and all they have learnt so far this year, in order to put out some excellent performances.

In the opening game, King’s faced The Chase, where we started the tournament with great intensity, starting as we meant to go on. The game finished 2-1 to King’s, with the girls putting in fantastic performances across the pitch.

Maintaining the intensity in the second game, we beat RGS comfortably 4-0. The game saw King’s have the majority of the possession allowing them to control the game well, as well as having the ability to mark RGS’s better players out of the game.

In the third game, the girls faced RGS Dodderhill, where players Mathilda P (Goal Keeper) and Ruby N played exceptionally, keeping them in the game. During the game, the team had a few good breaks but unfortunately were unable to convert the opportunities into goals, with the game finishing 0-0.

Having drawn to RGS Dodderhill, to determine the winner went to goal difference, where King’s having the greater goal difference won the tournament, becoming County Tier 2 Champions. These girls have worked so hard and improved so much throughout the year. They should all be very proud of their performances.

Over on the courts, the U12B’s had their District Tournament. During the tournament King’s faced RGS, Christopher Whitehead and Blessed Edwards. This tournament provided a good opportunity to coach the players and for the players to experience a tournament environment.

The girls beat RGS 4-3, to become District Champions. The girls showed excellent versatility during the games, with the whole squad rotating through different positions to gain valuable experience in all aspects of the game.

Congratulations to all the Lower Years girls involved in these fantastic achievements, and it has been great to see the development and improvements that have taken place throughout this year!

Over the weekend U13 Netball Coach Miss Herdman competed in the Vitality Netball Super League for Severn Stars, winning her Saturday game against Surrey Storm 47-56. All the VNSL games throughout the season can be watched on YouTube. Miss Herdman will be taking her U13 Netball team to the District Tournament next week, so we wish all the girls involved the best of luck!
