Modern Biathlon Championships success for Two Lower Remove Pupils

During half term Ben G (LRCh) and Harry C (LRCh) competed in the 2021 British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships held at the Sports Training Village at Bath University.

The British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships is a competition for all school-age athletes and their teachers, giving them a chance to represent the school.

Ben G took part in the U14 Boys event, which included a 100m swim and a 1600m run. Ben achieved the fastest time in his age group for the swim with a time of 57.24 seconds. Next was his run, where he came 16th, meaning overall, once all the points were added up, Ben came 6th out of 28 in his age group.

Harry C competed in the U13 Boys event, achieving an amazing 3rd overall, with the event also consisting of a 100m swim and 1600m run. Harry also won the swim with a time of 57.89 seconds and completed the run in a time of 5:44.96 minutes.

The boys were then lucky enough to be presented with their certificates and medal by two Olympic modern pentathlon athletes, Joe Choong and Kate French. Both Joe and Kate won gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan, and so this was a fantastic experience for both the boys!

Congratulations to both Harry and Ben!

Harry and Ben are also part of the eight-man U15 boys’ swimming team, who along with the U18 girls’ team have qualified to compete at the 63rd ESSA Secondary Schools’ Team Championships on the 20th November in the London Aquatic Centre at the Olympic Park.

We wish both teams the best of luck in this forthcoming event!
