Nina H Awarded Medal for Exceptional Commitment to Choir
Congratulations to Nina H, who was recently awarded the Bollen Medal for her contribution to Worcester Cathedral’s Voluntary Choir.
This is a fantastic achievement, and was awarded for her exceptional attendance, singing and engagement with choir life.
The Choir, informally known as the ‘Vollers’, is open to boys and girls in year 3 and above. King’s Hawford is proud to have four children in the Choir; along with Nina, Maddie P, Rosie L-C and Isla H, are also committed and enthusiastic members.
The Cathedral Voluntary Choir, which was first formed in October 1874 and is one of the longest running cathedral voluntary choirs in England, is a wonderful opportunity for young singers from across Worcester to be involved in music at the cathedral.
With the Christmas season approaching, the Choir is preparing for a raft of exciting events; not least their parade through Worcester town centre to enjoy the very first ride on the carousel in the Victorian Fayre, opening the fair.
Nicholas Freestone from Worcester Cathedral commented: “Congratulations to Nina on her receiving the Bollen Medal, which reflects the commitment and dedication she has brought to the choir over a number of years.”
“At the Cathedral, we are delighted that we have always had strong links with King’s Hawford, especially through pupils’ membership of the Voluntary Choir. At the moment, we have four King’s Hawford children in the choir and we are always keen to hear from those who are interested in joining. Please contact me on nicholasfreestone@worcestercathedral.org.uk for further information.”
