It was cause for celebration when we learned of OV Danny Payne’s (S 92-99) ordination on 27 June in Lichfield Cathedral.
Father Danny was ordained deacon by The Rt Rev Michael Ipgrave, Bishop of Lichfield, to serve his curacy in three parishes in Stafford – The Collegiate Church of Saint Mary, Stafford; St Leonard’s, Marston; and, Saint Chad’s, Stafford.
Danny added: “It’s been a long road, with twists and turns, but I am delighted to have been able to respond to my calling to ministry, and grateful to those who have supported me on this journey. I am looking forward to serving, to learning from, and walking with God’s people in Stafford in the years ahead.”
Not only is Danny an OV, but he is also a former Old Vigornian Club committee member and a former member of King’s Worcester staff as well; having headed up the Design, Media and Reprographics department for a number of years.
We wish Father Danny all the very best for his curacy and beyond.
