OV Cerys for Captain

Fantastic to see OV Cerys Preston (Cr 12-19) captaining the U23 Hockey Wales team this week – and taking her team to a nail-biting draw against Ireland in the first of a series of three games as part of the Under 23 4 Nations Series.

Wednesday’s game was intense, with both teams having scored a goal apiece until the last 10 minutes when Wales went 2-1 up before Ireland sent two more to the back of the net, then Cerys’ team secured the equaliser in the last three minutes!

This is the first game in a series of three between the two squads, being hosted by Ireland at their pitch in Jordanstown.

OV Cerys for Captain

Cerys’ passion for Hockey has been unabated for years, including while at King’s Worcester where she was in the 1st Hockey Team, unsurprisingly!

On her latest Captaincy, Cerys commented: “It is a privilege to be offered captaincy for this Test Series and it was great to lead such a dedicated team of girls. Leadership is something that I had to work on through my times at King’s Worcester. I am grateful for those who believe in me so that I have had the confidence to take this responsibility on an international stage. I hope for many more of these experiences in the future and just glad to be out back playing hockey after it being disrupted by the pandemic!”

Good luck for the remainder of the series, and the season, Cerys!
