OV Graduate Stories

OV Josie Hales

It’s A Level results day next week and while that may feel like the end of your journey at King’s, you’re still part of the King’s family. We’re always really interested to hear how our OVs are getting on and we’ve caught up with some OVs who graduated this year. Here are their stories

Josie Hales (Br 14-16)

After having studied Art A-Level at Kings School Worcester, I am over the moon to have graduated from Loughborough University with a 2:1 from the well-recognised BA (Hons) Graphic Communication and Illustration Course. As well as the success of receiving my degree, I have recently been awarded a D&AD ‘One to Watch’ 2020 title for Graphic/Communication Design. This is such an amazing achievement for me to be selected as one of 4 from Loughborough University and out of the 1000 creatives showcased. I am now looking for an opportunity to continue my passion for design in the industry. My portfolio can be found at

OV Freddy Charters

Freddie Charters (Ch 09-16)

I have graduated from Loughborough University with a 2:1 in Industrial Design and Technology (BA Hons). I was also awarded with a diploma in professional studies achieved through my year-long placement at The LEGO Group in Denmark. During my time there, I was entrusted with the build design of five different LEGO sets for the LEGO Ninjago line of toys which have all been released onto shelves during 2020. I am currently doing freelance design work and I am excited to see where the design industry can take me.

OV Alex Long

Alex Long (Cr 10-17)

I “graduated” with a 2:1 in Business Management with Integrated Work Placement BSc from Cardiff University. Getting to grips with online exams and a global pandemic was not something that I thought I would be overcoming in my final year but I had such a wonderful time in Cardiff and I cannot wait to go back next summer for my actual graduation. I had planned to have a year out of education and do some travelling but as COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc, instead I am now applying for Masters in Management with hopes to travel afterwards.

Ov Sam Donoghue

Sam Donoghue (W 09-16)

I have just graduated from the University of Bath with a 2:1 in Bsc Business Administration. I’ve had some great opportunities during the degree, including working in London and Bath on two industrial placements – with Acumen Commercial Insights and Pure Planet –  as well as completing a really interesting dissertation on male skincare consumption habits. I’m now looking for graduate opportunities to officially start my career and can’t wait to get stuck in and making a positive change wherever I go next. Our graduation was all virtual this year, hence the photo of me with my laptop!

Many congratulations to all OVs graduating this year. Please do keep sending us your news.
