OV Jolyon Loy Illuminates the Darkness
It has been a pleasure to watch OV Jolyon Loy’s (Br 02-08) career go from strength to strength and we were delighted to see such a fantastic review from his latest, live performance.
A Young Artist of the National Opera Studio, Jolyon recently took part in a residency with Opera North in Leeds, following which he performed ‘Illuminating Darkness’, directed by Olivia Fuchs. This was livestreamed from the Studio’s Blackburn Hall (with all necessary Covid precautions in place).
Jolyon’s performance as Billy Budd in ‘Look! Through the port – Billy Budd’ by Britten was held up in particular. To quote critic Robert Hugill: “Jolyon Loy’s powerful account of Billy in the Darbies really hit home!”
A King’s Worcester Bursary student, Jolyon’s passion for music and performing was well established early on at School. He was heavily involved in Drama and Theatre and, unsurprisingly, a chorister at Worcester Cathedral.
