It is wonderful to see so many of our OVs being involved in good causes during these difficult times.
During this lockdown period, OVs Kate Dunn-Massey (Os 10-17) (pictured left) and Izzy Mackintosh (W 11-18) (pictured below, right) and 55 other University of Bristol Ladies Hockey Club members have been taking part in a solidarity run for charity.
Each member had the choice of running 50, 75 or 100km in a 2 week period (27th April-May 10th) to raise money for Women’s Aid, who support domestic abuse victims. Domestic abuse helplines have had a surge in demand during lockdown.
Kate says, “As I am club captain (president) of the ladies hockey club next year I wanted to unite the club but also raise money for such a worthy cause. It’s been very challenging so far but I have already almost finished my goal of 100km. I am thrilled to say that so far we have already raised over £3000 for Women’s Aid and we hope to continue raising money for such a good cause.
Izzy and I both played hockey for King’s and King’s Hawford too! My first match was on the grass pitches at Hawford and 15 years later I’m still as mad about the game and love playing for Bristol University.”
Fantastic work Kate and Izzy!
