Reception shine in first assembly about “People Who Help Us”
On Wednesday, Reception performed their very first assembly about their recent focus ‘People Who Help Us.’ It was a wonderful assembly that reflected some of the learning and experiences that Reception have had over the past 6 weeks of term. Each child was someone that they have met of the course of this topic. Some examples include Mr Chapman, the School Headmaster, Sara, the School secretary, a Dentist, a Fire Fighter and a Police Officer. The children fully embraced their roles, speaking, singing and dancing with enthusiasm and confidence. We are so proud of the effort the children put into learning their lines and for ‘finding their brave’ to stand up in front of an audience at only 4 and 5 years old which is an amazing achievement.
All the children were beaming and so happy to have their parents, siblings and grandparents watch them. This recent focus has provided the children with lots of real life experiences from visiting Fire Fighters (and their fire engine!) to Police Officers (and their Police Car!), Medical Professionals and the many people in our wider school community who help us. The children have continued to actively learn through their experiences which was reflected in their assembly this morning and all the work they have achieved this half of term.
Mrs Thorp said; “I couldn’t be prouder of the children today. They have shown perseverance, determination and great team work in learning their lines, songs and dance. It really was a fabulous assembly which hopefully reflected the children’s enthusiasm for this focus of learning over the last half of term. Every child spoke and sang beautifully; it was a very happy occasion for us all. “
Pupil led assemblies are a great way for our Pre-Prep children to showcase their recent learning. Performing in front of a supportive audience of parents, grandparents, siblings and teachers helps our pupils build confidence and lays the foundations for future public speaking opportunities.
