Plenty to celebrate in this week’s assembly

What a brilliant week it has been! There is an excited buzz around the school and the standard of work taking place is exemplary. This has meant that once again there was plenty to celebrate in assembly this Friday.

Pre Prep Certificates


  • Rudy got the Superstar award for his engagement and enthusiasm – fantastic work!
  • Amber achieved an independence award for her confidence in independent activities
  • Persephone has shown a fantastic Growth Mindset.

Year 1

  • Ben has the Superstar award this week for being a delight in the classroom. Well done!
  • Greta received a Risk-Taking certificate for pushing herself out her comfort zone in the swimming pool.
  • Year 1 have been working on poems about the sea side, focussing on the senses and using great adjectives. Well done to Kasvika, Alban, Cerys and Greta on a superb effort.

Year 2

  • Mia has been showing great perseverance in her handwriting, and putting in huge effort all round – good girl!
  • The superstar award goes to Ben J for listening and acting on his teacher’s feedback.

Well done to all of Pre-Prep on their fantastic Summer Show!

Year 3

  • Year 3 sowed bean seeds last term and Jasper has been looking after them so well he is now harvesting beans at home!
  • In History, Year 3 have researched and produced an ‘Ancient Egyptian’s Got Talent!’ fact file of their chosen Egyptian God.  The winning Gods were researched by William, Shreya, Joel, Sebastian and Florence.

Year 4

  • Well done to Ace in Year 4 for passing the Rainbow Jewel Challenge
  • Jack B showed fantastic behaviour, good manners and confidence on meeting visitors to the school whilst returning from the music school with Matron.

Year 5

  • Year 5 have had another great week for times tables challenges, with 4 children achieving Silver awards, 2 Bronze awards and a Gold for Sam R.
  • All the children had a very exciting trip to the Lakeside Campus where they took part in team building and communication activities. The day was great fun and there was huge excitement all round, especially for successfully completing the raft building activity!
  • Mrs Pitts was delighted with Taym, Tommy, Alanna, Persephone and Ollie, who all showed sound knowledge of addition, subtraction and multiplication of fractions in the educational videos they produced.
  • In English, Ollie, Mia, Mea, Immie, Sydney, Henry G and Lily wrote amazing accounts of the encounter between Edmund and the White Witch in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
  • Well done to Florence B and Evie for their descriptive and imaginative diary entries about the D Day landings

Year 6

  • Year 6 completed the Mindfulness in Schools .breath course,.  Congratulations to all from Mrs Lewis and a big thank you for your abundant enthusiasm. The skills learnt will be very helpful as you make the move to Senior School.

GYM Homework

  • There have been over twenty Head Teacher’s Awards for GYM Homework this week. Some children used ideas from our menu of suggestions and others came with their own innovative ideas.  We couldn’t mention them all in today’s assembly but you were all amazing! Well done in particular to James L for his incredible pencil drawing of the Ghost Scene from Hamlet and to Jessica M for her wonderful mindfulness poster full of sensible advice.


  • All the Prep school children have performed amazingly in their cricket fixtures this week. In particular, the Year 5 and 6 girls A team played a very close game against RGS and won with the final ball.  Well done all of you on a fantastic match!
  • Charlotte in Year 3 achieved a Personal Best in the Junior Park Run and came 5th.   Well done, Charlotte!
