King's St Alban's

Pre-Prep buzzing after a visit to The Hive.
The King’s St Alban’s Pre- Prep visited The Hive, Worcester on Monday morning for their annual visit. After a brisk walk through the city of Worcester for Year 1 and Year 2 and a short ride in the school minibus for our Reception cohort, everyone arrived ready for a morning of stories and fun.
To kick-start the morning, the whole group enthusiastically sang a number of songs to warm up before listening carefully to a story about the library. We learnt the important rules for using The Hive safely and sensibly. Then we were free to explore! The children quietly and considerately looked around the children’s library as well as the non-fiction book collection before choosing the books they would like to take home. There was lots of time spent exploring the books and choosing ones to read with their friends. The children had all brought their own library cards with them so they were able to choose a book to take home.
Everyone was then put to work returning books which needed to go back on the shelves in the right place; of course using the machine is always a highlight! We then went back to listen to a very noisy story before Mrs Chatterton took part in the ‘Tongue Twister Challenge.’ She managed to read it very quickly and carefully and King’s St Alban’s are now in the lead!
We had a lovely morning exploring one of our important local attractions and we hope that it will continue to inspire the children to love reading and, we hope, borrow some new books when they visit again!
