Pre-Prep Update 6th Nov 2020

Our Pre-Prep children came back eager for this half term. They were excited to see each other again after a week and a half apart and we all enjoyed hearing what each other did over the break.

Reception are looking at different festivals and celebrations this half term. This week they focussed on exploring Bonfire Night. They enjoyed listening to the different sounds of a firework display and using the colours that they saw in their own firework pictures. Reception have also done some fantastic maths work this week, focussing on odd and even numbers.  We are very impressed with their fantastic number formation!

Year One are starting their new topic: ‘In the Night Sky’. They are eager to learn more about light and dark, nocturnal animals and identifying sources of light. They were extremely excited about the dark den that has been set up in their role play area and they have loved reading topic-themed books in the dark den by torchlight!

Year Two have also had a really exciting start to their new topic. On Thursday, an ‘alien’ appeared in 2C’s classroom, carrying a funny letter with symbols on it! In maths, they decoded the alien’s note, answering different mathematical questions to decipher his message. The children then thought about the questions they wanted to ask the alien and they concentrated carefully on different question words. They were delighted with the solar system display in their classroom and are eager to learn more about outer space.

We are excited to see our Pre-Prep children progress in their new topics over the coming weeks. Next week we will be finding out what Nursery have been learning about.
