U11A and B Netball v Hereford Cathedral School
The girls travelled over to Hereford on Wednesday afternoon to play their matches. The As started well. Their footwork was excellent as was their driving into space and shooting. In the second half, however, our passing really let us down, which gave the opposition interceptions which resulted in goals. We talked about this after the match and will put in some more work on timing the pass. Well done girls, a narrow loss 6-7. In the B team, you could really see the improvement the girls have made over the last few weeks. Captained brilliantly by Izzy, the girls won with a narrow victory of 2-1. Again, more work to be done on passing into the space in front of the player, will stand them in good stead for future matches. Well done girls!
U11 C Netball v Hereford Cathedral School
The U11 girls have impressed with their progress in the last few weeks. We have been working on their athleticism on the court. This has helped them with their fast drives into space and their jumping interceptions. Persephone made some very pleasing interceptions, reading the passage of the ball well and timing her jump to intercept. Well done to Mihika, who not only played well but also captained the team maturely.
U10 Netball V Hereford Cathedral School
An excellent performance from our Y5 girls on Wednesday earned them a convincing win of 7-1. They have improved their driving for the ball and on several occasions worked the ball up the court quickly. Their defensive skills weren’t put to the test but it was great to see a few jumping interceptions, especially by Eshal. The shooting was solid and Emily, who was awarded ‘Player of the match’, shot particularly well.
U10/11 A Football v Hereford Cathedral
The U10 and U11 boys impressed on Wednesday with some brilliant passing of the football. Guy R is improving every week in goal and is really grasping the idea of coming off the line and closing down the angle for the shot. Sam C was absolutely everywhere, making brilliant goal saving challenges and distributing the ball brilliantly. Harry B and Peter also supported Sam and made it a real force, which the Hereford team struggled to pass. Alex and Lex demonstrated good skill and speed to get past their opponents down the wing. Patrick once again did exactly what was asked of him, held the ball up well and played in the boys around him to create a number of chances.
U10/11 B Football v Hereford Cathedral
The U10/11 B team had their best performance of the season at Hereford Cathedral School. The team continued to improve their skills, with every player displaying top effort levels from start to finish, especially from Ollie and Will, who covered almost every inch of the pitch. Harry had a great game in goal, Jack and Barnaby defended well at the back and Aiden was a constant threat in the opposition’s half, on and off the ball.
U10/11 C Football v Hereford Cathedral
The U10/11 C team travelled to Hereford for their away fixture on Wednesday afternoon. They scored a great team goal, with a few linking passes up the pitch finished off in great style. They showed great resilience and drive throughout the game and were pushing each other to ensure they played their hardest and gave their all. This was a great improvement and we are keen to see how they go in the next game.
U9 Netball v Hereford Cathedral School
The girls had an enjoyable afternoon of netball on Tuesday. We played the 4 a side Fliers games working towards shooting into a goal and played in three teams. The girls were better at moving into space towards the goal. However, they need to ensure they don’t go too far away as we need to work the ball up the court together, as a team. A little more focus will stand them in good stead for their next game.
U8/9 A Football v Hereford Cathedral
The U8/9 A team continued to impress with their tenacity and work rate in a very tough game against Hereford Cathedral School on Tuesday afternoon. They battled extremely hard in the first half, with a brilliant defensive display from William B, Sam T and goalkeeper Arslan. King’s St Alban’s took the lead from lovely build up play through Reuben and Rook, which was finished off brilliantly by the King’s St Alban’s captain for the day, Monty E. Tommy showed his skill and ‘never give up’ attitude to get on the end of a pass, but his shot just skimmed past the post. This was another brilliant performance from all of the boys and we are certainly moving in the right direction.
U8/9 B Football v Hereford Cathedral
Well done to the U8/9 B team who performed very well against Hereford Cathedral School this week. Isaac continued to do well in goal, making some good saves, whilst William battled hard in midfield, making lots of excellent tackles. Mark also had some great runs on the wing and supported his teammates off the ball. The boys are continuing to develop their passing and dribbling skills, and are showing signs of improvement in each game they play.
U8/9 C Football v Hereford Cathedral
The U8/9C team had a fixture against Hereford Cathedral School on Tuesday and it was a great day of football for the two developing sides, learning and progressing as the game went on. We played three thirds to get the most out of this fixture, which allowed the coaches to spot and look at areas of play which needed improving.
U8 Netball v Hereford Cathedral School
On Tuesday Hereford brought 3 teams over to play Fliers netball against all our Y3 girls. The great thing about the new Bee Netball is that it gives options and opportunities to involve all of children in a simple, child-centred way. All the girls get to touch the ball several times and don’t need to be restricted to certain areas on the court. So it means that our girls worked hard to cover all the court.
Marnie and Yifei were quick around the court and demonstrated some excellent passing and catching skills. They are now ready for us to start using the posts and do some shooting in the games.
