Racing ahead: Year 5 pupils take part in Worcester City Run

Last weekend, the Worcester City Runs returned even bigger and better than ever before! Taking place across both Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September, the eighth Worcester City 10K and Half Marathon, alongside the Junior run, started bright and early on a slightly chilly, damp Sunday morning. The weekend also witnessed the return of the Paula’s Families on Track event, a fun family relay event which took place on Worcester Racecourse on Saturday.

In total, the weekend saw over 4000 runners taking part across all the Worcester City run events and we are delighted that two King’s St Alban’s Year 5 pupils were in that number. Lacing up their running shoes, Helena C and Charlotte C both completed the Junior race with impressive finishing times. The route saw the girls sprint off from the starting line located at the viaduct located next to Worcester Racecourse, across City Bridge and onto Tybridge Street, looping around onto New Road and back across the City Bridge, thus returning to where it all began. Commenting on their race the girls said, “It was really good fun to take part in the Junior Race; we love running and can’t wait for the next one!”

Recovering in time for the start of the new school year on Monday, both girls proudly showed off their medals. We offer huge congratulations to both Helena and Charlotte from the entire King’s St Alban’s community; we are massively proud of you both. As you are keen sportswomen, we are sure that we will be hearing of many more sporting achievements as the academic year progresses – watch this space!

Our congratulations also extend to a number of parents who entered a variety of races including the 10K and the Half Marathon – a hearty well done from the King’s St Alban’s family.
