Racing success for Theo who raced at Brands Hatch on the first weekend of the Autumn Term. He qualified in 2nd, being only 0.032 seconds off pole position, having been the pacesetter for most of qualifying. He came 2nd in the first race and 3rd in the second race – so achieving a double podium!
Theo is by far the youngest on the grid and racing against very experienced older professional and amateur drivers.
Theo has always been interested in cars and racing and started racing go-karts at the age of 8. He competed in the Superone British Karting Championship in 2017 finishing 14th in his class in the UK when he was 13. Theo then started racing cars in Ginetta Juniors with Total Control Racing team in late 2018 with the intention of racing a full season in 2019. The season was started in 2019 in Ginetta Juniors supporting the British Touring Cars and fully televised on ITV4. Theo had a third-place podium at Donington Park and then mostly top 10 finishes. In July 2019 – halfway through the championship and placed at 14th – Theo decided this was not for him.
Theo went on to test a Maclaren GT, British F4 and a Clio Cup car later that year with the intention of choosing a new race series to compete in. The new Porsche Sprint Challenge GB was then announced racing a Porsche Cayman GT4, which we all decided was perfect. This was to be a support race for British Touring Cars and British GT with 6 events throughout the year travelling to different tracks. Theo’s race car was delivered in January and we did lots of testing with his team (Total Control Racing) before media day/test day at Silverstone in March where Theo topped the timing tables in all five sessions! Due to Coronavirus restrictions and lockdown, racing was then postponed and resumed in July.
Theo has had some great success and is racing in the professional class. He is now running 3rd in the pro class having had a 2nd place at Snetterton in July in his very first race and two 5ths at Donington in August. Congratulations, Theo!
