Reception pupils welcome parents to class

The King’s St Alban’s Community always embraces parental involvement in school life and this week our youngest Pre-Prep pupils were delighted to invite their parents into school to give them a small insight into their lives in Reception.

The children were very excited to welcome their mums and dads to school. During the Share with Me session, all of Reception Class demonstrated some brilliant phonics and demonstrated their blending CVC words. The children were proud to show off how much they have learnt in their first five weeks of school. The way in which the children sat beautifully on the carpet in their classroom made it clear how much they have matured since the start of term. They all demonstrated brilliant manners, eagerly and politely raising their hands when they wanted to say something.

It was wonderful to watch the children choose some of their favourite activities to share with their parents. Some highlights were counting dominoes to squirt numbers, decorating a paper person, and using pegs to pick up soft balls to help with their fine motor skills and to strengthen their fingers ready for writing. The Reception classrooms had a real buzz of happy, focused and enthusiastic children. The workshop finished with singing our end of day song Tickly Rain, which the children sang so beautifully and for which they received a well-deserved round of applause!

We are so grateful to our Reception parents for coming in to see the children and, we hope, enjoying a real taste of what a day in Reception here at King’s St Alban’s is really like.
