Reception’s Christmas Adventure

It really is the most magical time of the year! Especially if you are in Reception and you get to go on a Christmas adventure. This week our Reception pupils boarded the school mini buses and set off down the A449 towards Little Owl Farm Park. The children were wrapped up warm to combat the wintery weather and were filled with excitement and anticipation.

For their first stop on their Christmas adventure, the children enjoyed an animal encounter with guinea pigs, rabbits and chicks. The children were able to touch the animals and learn all about each one. The teachers were impressed with the children’s inquisitive nature as they asked some brilliant questions. The children also spent some time in the piggery where they got to see some tiny piglets. Again the children were full of questions and the keepers were more than happy to answer the children’s queries.

Next up the children got to meet some of Father Christmas’s reindeer! This was a real treat and the children were in awe of meeting these magical creatures. They took it in turns to stroke the reindeer and again asked some brilliant questions. The staff from Little Owl Farm were full of knowledge and happy to impart it to our Reception pupils.

After they had finished petting the reindeer the children were ushered through the meet with Father Christmas! This was a wonderfully special time. Some of the children were a little nervous to start with but soon warmed up. They each spent time happily chatting with Father Christmas asking about his preparations for the big day and how he makes the reindeer fly. Father Christmas was also keen to discover whether the children thought they might be on the naughty or the nice list this year! He also asked each child what they wanted for Christmas this year. There was a huge range of toys and games named so we are assuming that all children are in fact on the nice list this year!

After bidding farewell to Father Christmas the children were delighted to be able to choose a gift from the Elf’s workshop. Some children instantaneously knew what they would like whilst others put a little more thought into that gift they wanted to take home.

Another highlight of the trip was a festive show where Mrs Claus demonstrated her naughty and nice machine. What a wonderful insight into life at the North Pole ahead of Christmas! The children then spent time making their very own Christmas decorations!

Last but not least the children burnt off any remaining energy with a blast around the soft play. This not only ensured the children were suitably worn out also helped the staff defrost!

The children were brilliant ambassadors for the school and were a pleasure to spend the day with.
