Review of the week: Autumn Term Week 1

In light of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen yesterday, we did not hold a full celebration assembly this morning.  Instead, Mr Chapman read comments from each of our form teachers on how their new classes have settled into the first week of term:

Reception have settled in fantastically to school. They have enjoyed exploring the classroom and making new friends. Their highlights of the week so far are swimming and toast in the afternoon! We are very proud of how grown up they have been, coming in each morning and for trying to learn all the new rules and routines. Well done, Reception!

Year 1 have settled back into class beautifully this week. They have been smiley, enthusiastic and eager to learn, and have impressed us with their effort in all areas and their super manners – well done, Year 1!

Year 2 have had a super week.  I am very impressed how quickly they are settling and adapting to some new routines.  Year 2 are already displaying some super examples of teamwork and have earnt themselves quite a few gems in the jar this week!  A great start, well done!

A huge well done to all the children in Year 3 for a super start to their time in the Prep school!  There’s an awful lot for you all to take in and remember, but you have listened well, tried hard to get things right and have shown super growth mindsets with all the new information and routines.  A fantastic first week! Keep up the good work and super attitudes!

Teaching 4R this week has been a pleasure. They have returned to school after their holidays ready to learn. In class, they have listened carefully to my instructions and carried out their work quietly and with lots of effort, always trying to achieve their best. I’m looking forward to spending the rest of the year with such a hard-working class!

4J have had an amazing first week. They have supported each other, welcoming new friends and old with a smile on their faces. They have started some great learning and I look forward to seeing them flourish throughout the year.

5E have had a brilliant start to the year and I have been impressed with their attitude in the classroom, including some super teamwork and lots of great focus. Their curiosity towards our humanities topic of the Tudors was particularly impressive: they came up with over 30 questions about things they’d like to find out about in just a few minutes!

5B have made a positive start to the term and are proving to be eager learners. They have responded well to the idea that by going up a year, they are expected to get more work done. 5B have also readjusted to the need to create tidy work, while not becoming so concerned about handwriting that they work too slowly. Well done!

5P have settled extremely well this week; they are already showing lots of promise in their written work, work ethic and ability to collaborate with each other. The new children have slotted into school life very quickly and made new friends. I look forward to seeing the progress that they will make over the coming term.

I am incredibly proud of how 6B have started the year. They have shown maturity, responsibility and focus in their learning. They have also been great company this first week and I look forward to a super year working together.

6HM have been full of enthusiasm and curiosity this week. We’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone, especially our new pupils, Georgina, Lucy and Mila. There has been lots of great teamwork and kindness, especially when helping others with iPad login problems!

We did, however, congratulate our Pre-Prep Super Stars, Lakshmi, Rory, Hibah, Magson, George and Amber.  Well done all of you!
