Review of the week: Autumn Week 5

Celebration Assembly:

There was a murmur of excitement as The Barn filled for Celebration Assembly last Friday. To mark Charity Day, pupils and staff were invited to dress in sportswear. There was a variety of different sporting outfits on display but it was Mrs Knight’s costume that caused the most excitement.

In addition to her 118 running vest and handlebar moustache, Mrs Knight also appeared to be riding a chicken, much to the amusement of Pre-Prep and her colleagues.

Assembly started with Mrs Knight explaining that her outfit choice was inspired by those who run marathons in costumes to raise money for charity! Pupils and staff were dressed up to raise money for our school charities: Project Gambia, Get Kids Going and The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust.

Mrs Knight then proceeded to hand out the Top House Point Achiever certificates. This week these were awarded to:

William R (Rec)
Yaseen (Y1)
Elizabeth C (Y2)
Annie (Y3)
Arthur O (Y4)
George O (Y5)
Harriette T (Y6).

Two pupils also achieved their Activity Badges. Well done to Johnny, who was awarded his MFL badge, and Daisy, who received her Reading badge!

Pupils have been working extremely hard this week, with many gaining subject merits. Particular congratulations go to Elliott, who achieved a HTA and as a result visited Mrs Knight’s office for a treat from the Basket of Brilliance!

Mrs Hughes then led the school in hymn, a task made trickier than normal without the projector to display the lyrics. Luckily, the whole school rose to the challenge and managed to get through all of the verses of This Day.

Assembly finished with Harry playing Study in Pink on his clarinet. He gave an excellent performance that captivated the whole audience. Well done Harry!
