School Carol Service 2022

On Wednesday 14 December, we were delighted to return to a full Worcester Cathedral for the King’s Worcester Carol Service, celebrating both the end of term and the Festive Season. The service of Lessons and Carols for Christmas was led by Rev’d Dr Mark Dorsett (Hon OV) and, as many OVs will recall, it was a very special evening. You can read more about the carol service here.

Alongside Director of Music, Simon Taranczuk (Hon OV), Christopher Allsop, the Assistant Director of Music, played the organ and directed the Chamber Choir and the Lower Year’s Choir at this, his last Service at King’s before he leaves to take up a new post at Eton College. We take this opportunity to recognise Mr Allsop’s considerable contribution to the King’s School and Worcester Cathedral, and know OVs join us in wishing him and his family the very best of luck in his new role.

Prior to the service, we welcomed some members of the King’s Foundation family, with OVs, Hon OVs, and School Governors alongside the Leader of Worcestershire County Council and the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress of Worcester, to enjoy some homemade mince pies and mulled punch in College Hall with Headmaster, Gareth Doodes. OVs will recognise the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress, who are both also OVs: Cllr Louis Stephen (Br 80-85) and Katey Stephen (nee Bridges, Co 84-85).

A magical way to celebrate the festive season!
