School Comes Alive With Chinese New Year Celebrations
On January 29th, the school was filled with energy and excitement as children and staff came together to celebrate Chinese New Year with a range of cultural activities.
The event, which aimed to educate and entertain, featured traditional performances, creative crafts, and culinary delights.
One of the highlights of the day was the mesmerizing dragon dance, where children skilfully maneuvererd a long, colourful dragon around Kindergarten’s Rainbow room, symbolising good luck and prosperity. Meanwhile, others took part in a calligraphy challenge, writing traditional riddles on red paper, a custom believed to bring wisdom and joy.
Creativity flourished at the lantern-making station, where children carefully crafted beautiful paper lanterns, a symbol of hope and brightness for the year ahead. The festive spirit continued in the food-tasting area, where participants enjoyed a selection of Chinese delicacies, including dumplings, spring rolls, and sweet rice cakes.
The event not only brought the school community together but also provided a deeper appreciation of Chinese traditions. Children left with happy memories, a newfound respect for the culture, and the hope of good fortune in the year ahead.
