Senior Choir Take Part In St Richard’s Hospice Lights Of Love Service

On Friday, 15th November 2024, Year 5 and 6 students from the Senior Choir participated in the annual St. Richard’s Hospice Lights of Love service at Worcester Cathedral.
It is a privilege to be invited each year to this meaningful and heartfelt event, which honours and celebrates the lives of loved ones. The service provides a space for reflection, remembrance, and appreciation of the remarkable people who have touched our lives, particularly those who are no longer with us. It offers a beautiful way to pay tribute to those we hold dear.
During the event, individuals can dedicate a light in memory or celebration of a loved one, whether or not they have a direct connection to St. Richard’s Hospice. The cathedral service is always a deeply moving and comforting occasion that resonates personally with many attendees.
The Senior Choir performed three pieces during the service: A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and David Hodgkins, Can You Hear Me? by Bob Chilcott, and Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon. The children received high praise from the congregation for their stunning performances, and it was a delight to sing in the cathedral’s extraordinary acoustics.
St. Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity that provides care for adults with serious progressive illnesses, enhancing their quality of life from diagnosis through treatment and into their final days, while also supporting their loved ones. Donations from the Lights of Love initiative help fund the hospice’s specialist care for patients, their families, and bereaved individuals across Worcestershire. The charity depends on public donations and gifts in wills for the majority of its funding, with the remaining income provided by the NHS.
For over 20 years, St. Richard’s Hospice has organized Lights of Love services across Worcestershire. Since 2018, King’s Hawford has performed at the afternoon service, an event that holds a special place in our calendar each year.
