Sixth Form Open Morning
We were blessed with glorious autumnal sunshine for our Sixth Form Open Morning last weekend and, following the recent announcement of our redeveloped Sixth Form curriculum and rejuvenated Sixth Form Centre, it was wonderful to see record number of students and their families join us for an enthralling morning of insight, discussion and information.
Headmaster Mr Doodes and Head of Sixth Form, Mr Hand provided an inspiring introduction to the Sixth Form at King’s; Mrs Beever, our Academic Deputy Head then gave an update on the forthcoming changes to our curriculum, which will see augmented provision with an enhanced curriculum including KSW Electives, with its additional experiences, skills and qualifications, and our Life Skills Programme as well as our Futures programme of higher education and careers advice, our outstanding co-curricular provision and myriad opportunities for leadership and community outreach.
The nerve-centre for this will be our relocated and remodelled Sixth Form Centre, with its plethora of enviable facilities, including individual study spaces, seminar rooms, cutting-edge IT facilities and café.
Every academic department was buzzing with eager students asking our passionate subject specialist teachers about the options available; our prospective Sixth Formers were taken around our busy campus by current students of similar subjects to those our visitors were interested in studying.
There was an exciting Sixth Form Showcase in the Keyes Building, bustling with energy as current and prospective families spoke to our curriculum, careers and pastoral experts. The Michael Baker Boathouse was full of co-curricular information, including our popular and successful Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme and Combined Cadet Force; our energetic rowers offered a useful insight into Rowing at King’s and our wonderful Boat Club community, just one example of our impressive range of sporting experiences that form part of the vibrant Sixth Form life at King’s.
