This week our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils have visited South Hayes Nursing Home to spend time with the residents. As part of the visit our children performed a sneak preview of the Creative ConneXions finale song alongside some individual musical performances. The children also spent time reading and chatting to some of the residents. The nursing home residents enjoyed spending time with our pupils and our children delighted in sharing their artwork, reading stories they had written and serenading their friends at South Hayes with impromptu organ playing!
As part of world book week the children spent time reading to the residents and thoroughly enjoyed sharing their favourite stories and chatting about what they liked about the books.
A few of the children were shown inside the room of on of the residents (Arthur, 103!) where he chatted happily about his life and time in the army. He showed the children his medals, personal photos and talked about his love of football. What an inspiration!
